Deleting Your Account in the Application

You can delete your account within the application without having to submit a request:

1.1If you are asked to sign in again

For security reasons, if some time has passed since your last sign-in, you will be asked to sign in again before the account is deleted. In this case, your online backup may already have been deleted while your account has not yet been deleted. After signing in, repeat the same steps to complete the process.

  1. Open the Quitify application and sign in with the account you want to delete.
  2. On the Settings screen, go to the Account and backup section.
  3. Tap Delete account.
  4. Read the explanation in the dialog that appears and confirm by tapping the Delete account button.
02

If You Cannot Access the Application

If you have uninstalled the application, cannot sign in to your account or this option is not available in your version of the application, you can send your deletion request to [email protected] from the email address registered to your Quitify account. If you signed in with Google, use the email address of the relevant Google account. You do not need to reinstall the application.

To verify that the request comes from the account holder, additional information may be requested for requests not sent from the registered address. Do not include your password or your backup file in your request.

Verified requests are completed within thirty days at the latest, and you will be informed of the outcome by email.

The buttons open a request draft in your email app. The request is submitted when you send the email; this page does not delete your account automatically.

Data That Is Deleted

When the account is deleted, the following data are permanently deleted:

  • Account information: Email address, password hash, the Sign in with Google link, and the name and profile photo link associated with the account.
  • Current online backup: Profile and smoking information, reasons for quitting, achievements, savings, goals, spending records and currency.

3.1Consequences of deletion

A deleted account and online backup cannot be restored. After the account is deleted, the records on your phone remain and you can continue to use Quitify without an account. Deleting the account does not delete your Google account.

04

Deleting Only the Backup While Keeping the Account

If you want your account to remain open and only your online backup to be deleted, you can send a request to that effect to [email protected].

Before sending your request, turn off automatic backup or sign out under Settings > Account and backup. Otherwise, the application may create a new backup from the records on your phone.

05

Information Not Covered by Deletion

  • Records on the phone: Deleting the account does not delete the records on your phone. You can delete these records by clearing the application data under Settings > Apps > Quitify > Storage on your phone, or by uninstalling the application.
  • Backups from older versions: Online backups created with Quitify version 1.7.1 or earlier are not deleted when the account is deleted in the application. You can request the deletion of these backups by email.
  • Local backup files and device backups: Backup files you have exported, copies of these files in cloud storage services and Android system backups are under your control and must be deleted separately.
  • Advertising and usage measurement data: Retained by Google in accordance with the retention rules of the relevant service.
  • Correspondence: Deletion requests and support correspondence may be retained for as long as necessary to prove that the request was fulfilled and for possible disputes. This correspondence does not contain a copy of your deleted records.
06

Important Notes

Signing out, turning off automatic backup or uninstalling the application does not on its own delete your account or your online backup. To have your account deleted, you must use one of the methods described above.

07
